Created from stones collected in the Los Angeles Crest Mountains, AZUSA YELLOW OXIDE evokes a sense of calm unique to this quiet and expansive region. Symbolizing warmth, courage, and hope, the painting reflects a pivotal moment in Júlia’s life, a time of uncertainty when her connection to nature was essential not only for healing but also as a daily practice.

A core element of Júlia’s work is the deep respect she has for the land from which her pigments are drawn. The land holds its own memory, history, and supports many communities. To honor the spirit of overcoming hardship and moving forward with courage, 20% of the proceeds from AZUSA YELLOW OXIDE will be donated to the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team to support the purchase of a new truck.

The Altadena Rescue Team is a nonprofit volunteer organization committed to saving lives through mountain rescues and safety education. This truck is vital to their operations, and while they have received some funding, they still need the community’s support to reach their goal.

Júlia Godoy’s natural pigments undergo a process she refers to as blooming, where the pigments settle into their final form, evoking the memory of the earth.
